Pairing academic rigor with rich research in the nation’s capital
Who We Are
The GW Department of Chemistry provides a hands-on approach to modern laboratory practices and instrumentation supported by curricula in analytical, inorganic, organic and physical chemistry.
In a collaborative environment where faculty invite mentoring relationships and foster learning and discovery through engaged classroom and research experiences, students graduate with the expertise to pursue careers in academia, professional programs, industry and government.
Summer Research Opportunity in the Nation's Capital for Undergraduates!
The research experience for undergraduates (REU) site in the GW Department of Chemistry provides a unique interdisciplinary research experience for undergraduates that combines environmental and green chemistry with science policy. Students will conduct research projects with a focus on solving fundamental problems related to either green and environmental chemistry or sustainability, targeting applications in renewable energy, water, renewable feedstocks and healthcare. Over the course of the summer, students will also participate in a series of technical and professional development workshops, ranging from K-12 education to understanding the role of government in science and technology.
"GW is a great place to be a scientist."
